Berry on the nose, licorice on the tongue and close to equal parts THC and CBD: CBD Rene does not taste like a typical CBD strain.

It was House of the Great Gardener's first CBD-rich release, made by crossing a Cannatonic mother with Rene, the breeder's own Canadian favourite, a stony, fruity hybrid rumoured to descend from Himalayan indica and Skunk #1.

The breeder describes a berry nose and a licorice flavour. One outdoor grower reported licorice, aniseed and spice at harvest, with very little smell during bloom.

The breeder's lab result shows THC at 6.17% and CBD at 6.38%, with traces of CBC and CBG, so the effect is gentle and clear rather than heavy. Growers describe a calm, focused, creative mood with balanced energy and a lift in appetite, and balanced strains like this are widely sought by medical users who want daytime calm without a strong high.

The breeder lists 7 to 8 weeks of flower, a high yield and indoor or outdoor growing, with neat popcorn buds and resin the breeder rates as full melt. An outdoor grower reported a very good bud-to-leaf ratio and a slightly above average harvest. Worth knowing: the breeder's own testing found roughly seven in ten seeds give the high-CBD type, so careful growers test their plants before choosing a keeper.
