Brainstorm left the Dutch Passion catalogue with its reputation intact.
The line joined the breeder's collection in 1996 as Northern Lights #5 crossed with pure Haze, a pairing with deep roots in Dutch breeding. In 2006 Dutch Passion went back to the original seed stock, chose a premium clone and used it to make the feminised version, which became a repeat buy for indoor growers. It has since been discontinued, so sealed packs are getting scarce.
The breeder never published a detailed tasting note. What it did stress was a well balanced, soft smoke, with the smooth Northern Lights side taking the rough edges off the Haze.
Dutch Passion describes it as THC rich, with a strong and long lasting high, and files it under its indica-effect strains. A settled body under a lingering Haze head makes it a better fit for evenings than for a busy morning.
Brainstorm is a sturdy plant that carries the vigour and yield of Northern Lights #5, rated XL by the breeder and described as good for bumper harvests. Flowering takes about 9 weeks, and the breeder found it easy enough to recommend to new growers while also noting it as a good line from which to select mother plants. Its strongest results come indoors or in warm outdoor climates.
