Banana Gushers by Old School Genetics

Fuel first, then banana cream, then a squeeze of lemon tart: Banana Gushers keeps changing its mind on the way from the jar to the lungs.

Oldman Green built the Banoffee Pie series around a single pollen donor, a reversed Banana Ripple #17, and here he set it against the Connected cut of Gushers, the Gelato 41 x Triangle Kush hybrid prized for its candy and fuel. The result keeps Gushers' fuel and Kush backbone and wraps it in banana.

The breeder picks out pungent gas, ripe banana and a sharp, slightly acidic lemon tart over a Kush base, finishing on an earthy smoke with a creamy banana aftertaste.

This is a potent one by the breeder's account, with a bright, intense head rush that settles into cheerful wellbeing and an easy, pleasant body feel. Old School lists THC at around 28 percent, so newcomers should go gently.

Expect slender, well branched, fast vegetative growth, then a serious stretch: plants can quadruple in size during the first five to six weeks of flower, so leave headroom. Calyxes swell large with little leaf to trim, some phenotypes turn an intense blue, and secondary branches fill with compact buds. Indoors it finishes in 55 to 60 days for over 500 g/m², and outdoors it is ready by late September with over 500 g a plant.

Old School Genetics is a Barcelona collective led by Oldman Green, who has kept traditional lines alive since the late 1990s; its Peach Slush has taken several ICMAG titles, and its catalogue runs to collaborations with Karma Genetics and GG Strains such as OS Glue.
