Selected high in the Swiss Alps and named for buds so frosted and white-haired they look as if they have been out in a snowfall.

Dutch Passion crossed an Afghan indica with a South African sativa and worked the line over several generations at altitude, making Snow Bud the second release in its High Altitude family after Pamir Gold. It sits at roughly 60 to 75 per cent sativa.

The nose is pungent and skunky with earthy, spicy and pine notes, and the taste is mostly spice, with some smokers finding cinnamon and honey in the finish.

The breeder describes a strong, energetic head high with little body weight beyond a slight loosening of the muscles, best in the daytime or early evening. The smoke itself is soft and smooth, and users often mention a lively, restless energy.

Resistance to mould, mildew and bud rot is the selling point, which is why the breeder rates it best outdoors, ready around late September or early October. Average plants reach 1.5 to 2 metres, taller if vegged indoors first, and indoor yields of 350 to 400 g/m² are quoted, rising to about 450 in ideal conditions. Flowering takes roughly eight weeks, usually seven to nine, and the breeder suggests topping to hold the height down.
