Mix 2 - 6 Coloured Female hemp seeds by Dutch Passion

Six seeds, six colours, one sealed pack: Mix 2 is the second of Dutch Passion's coloured assortments, and the partner piece to Mix 1.

Dutch Passion has bred in Amsterdam since the 1970s and was formally founded in 1987. In the 1990s it says it worked out how to produce feminised seed, and these mixed packs show that idea off: six female seeds from the house range, each coloured, sold together rather than as one strain.

Collectors tend to like assortments for the same reason wine lovers like a mixed case. One pack gives a spread of a breeder's thinking, and the coloured seed coats turn the contents into something worth looking at before anyone thinks about what is inside.

Feminised seed was bred to remove guesswork. The breeder's aim is that every seed should give a female plant, which is why the format spread so quickly through European seedbanks after Dutch Passion introduced it.

Each seed in the mix carries its own variety, so flowering time, height, yield and character differ across the six. Set alongside Mix 1, it completes a pair that captures how one of the oldest names in the trade chose to package its range for growers and collectors.
