Mekong High came out of the jungle borderlands of Laos and Vietnam, and Dutch Passion has since retired it.
The breeder built it from pure Southeast Asian landrace genetics, a rare thing in a Dutch catalogue dominated by Afghan and Skunk lines, and its own smoke-test team gave it a top-class rating. With the strain now listed as discontinued, these sealed packs are a record of a line that is no longer being made.
The breeder describes a refreshing aroma and a clean herbal taste, more garden and green tea than candy.
The effect is what the name promises. Dutch Passion calls it a happy, smiley high with an old-school, retro feel: long-lasting and clean, clearing the head while the body loosens, and well suited to company and creative work.
At around 75 per cent sativa, it was bred as a potent indoor and greenhouse plant that also suits outdoor growers, reaching 1.5 to 2 metres outside. The breeder gives eight to nine weeks of flowering, high yields and good resistance to mould and bud rot, with outdoor harvest in the second week of October. Late in flower the plants can turn brown or purple, and growers have recorded three distinct shapes, from long and compact to short and stretched.
