Two sativas from the Dutch Passion vault went into Dolce Vita, and the Italian name, the sweet life, tells you the mood they were aiming for.
The breeder made it by putting feminised Power Plant pollen onto an Isis mother. Isis was a mostly sativa line the company kept as a single selected mother, chosen from fifty females for uniformity, and Power Plant brings its African roots and fast finish. Dutch Passion says the Isis side shows most strongly in the offspring, and Dolce Vita has since turned up as a parent in other breeders' work.
This is not a loud plant. The breeder's description calls the aroma and taste subtle, a quiet, clean sativa profile rather than a skunky blast, which makes it a curiosity in a catalogue full of heavy terpene bombs.
The effect is where it earns its name. Dutch Passion describes a very clear sativa high, the bright daytime kind that leaves room for conversation, music or a long walk, without the heavy body that Kush lines bring.
In the garden it flowers in about 60 days, roughly eight and a half weeks, which is quick for a sativa cross. The breeder rates the yield as medium and notes hard, crystal-coated buds, and says a short vegetative period of around two weeks is enough. Outdoors it is listed to finish by mid-October.
