Six weeks from the switch to harvest: Serious Seeds say Fruity Durban is the shortest-flowering plant they know of.
The newest name on Simon's short list pairs a selected Mimosa mother with an African Durban Poison father, a meeting of an old landrace sativa and a modern citrus dessert line. The breeder calls it a true F1 hybrid, mostly sativa, and the seedlings come up uniform enough that few distinct phenotypes have been recorded.
Harvest timing steers the jar. Taken early, the Mimosa leads with mandarin, lemon and summer blossom; left longer, the spicy aniseed and liquorice of the Durban come through. One grower summed up the smoke as lemon cake.
The breeder points to a bright, elegant, uplifting high in the Durban tradition, one for daytime and creative work rather than the sofa. THC sits at 18 to 20% by the breeder's figure, with no CBD to speak of.
Seedlings start slowly and can be overshadowed by their neighbours, then the vigour arrives: outdoor plants started in early June reach 2 to 2.5 metres and finish from mid-September to early October. Indoors it builds long, cat-tail colas with very few leaves and yields 350 to 500 g/m², putting on weight the longer it runs. Serious rate it highly resistant to mildew and fungus, growers have seen it stay clean through damp outdoor seasons, and the heavy trichome cover washes well for hash.
