Baklava 2.0 by The Plug Seedbank

Named after a pastry built from butter, nuts and syrup, this cross earns the title: Wedding Cake dough folded into Gelato cream.

The Plug Seedbank picked Wedding Cake as the mother for her solid, well-built frame, and Gelato for its flavour and its colours. Both are pillars of the Californian dessert school, so this is a cross with a clear brief: structure and bag appeal from one side, taste from the other. It comes from the Barcelona club scene, where the dessert strains rule the menu boards.

Growers describe a sweet, creamy, gelato-rich smoke, and one admits the drying room stank out the whole basement. Taste and smell are what people come back to.

The breeder does not publish an effect profile, and grower reports so far are about flavour, with one calling it a favourite smoke. Wedding Cake and Gelato are both widely reported as relaxed, mood-lifting hybrids, and that is the profile this cross is built around.

The Wedding Cake side gives a sturdy, well-branched plant, and the breeder says it stays coated in trichomes right through bloom, finishing with strong colours. Flowering runs 8 to 9 weeks indoors or out. One outdoor grower reported plants of about two metres, red tones from mid-September and a harvest late in the month.

The Plug Seedbank grew out of The Plug BCN, a cannabis community with venues in Barcelona and Amsterdam, and works with outside breeders on releases such as 99 Cookiez, Spumoni and Zupreme.
