Fried plantain and a bowl of tropical fruit, from a cross that started in a Barcelona members' club.

This is Perfect Tree's first collaboration with Spanish breeder Tricoma Gold Genetics, whose The Backyard Candies became a favourite at the Backyard BCN social club. Perfect Tree took their cut of that Candies mother and dusted her with a Banana Punch stud, releasing the result in 2024 as a regular line. Being regulars, these seeds carry fathers as well as mothers, which is exactly what anyone planning their own crosses wants.

The breeders describe layered tropical fruit pulled together by sticky banana terps, and their own shorthand for the nose is fried plantain bananas: sweet, caramelised and a little starchy.

Perfect Tree has not published an effects profile for Backyard Banana. The Banana Punch side is known for a relaxed, easy-going finish, but take that as family background rather than a promise for this cross.

Plan for height. The breeders warn that it can grow quite tall and stretches hard after the switch to flower, so give it room. Trichome output is described as stellar, and resin was a deliberate breeding target, which makes it a natural pick for washing. Flowering takes about 8 weeks, and yields are high in capable hands, indoors or out.
