White Panther by John Sinclair Seeds

A plant that now carries the name of a poet once handed ten years in prison over two joints.

Ceres Seeds of Amsterdam first released this plant as White Smurf, then renamed it White Panther in honour of John Sinclair, the activist and MC5 manager freed in 1971 days after the Free John Now Rally in Ann Arbor. Ceres lists it as an F1 indica and sativa hybrid, and the cross is widely reported as a Northern Lights and Skunk #1 mother paired with a pure Dutch sativa male. Ceres pitches it as a connoisseur's plant.

The smoke is light, sweet and smooth by the breeder's account. Growers and users add fresh citrus, a touch of orange and a cool minty edge over a skunky base that opens up when the buds are broken.

Ceres describes a hazy, dreamlike and sensual high, and users say it creeps in over fifteen minutes or so before settling into a chatty, easy glow. Some users report reaching for it to shake off stress and ease everyday aches, and it sits best in the evening.

In the garden it stays short and tight, and frosts over so heavily that the whole plant looks pale. That compact frame suits a sea of green indoors or out, with the breeder giving 45 to 55 days of flowering and yields of 0.9 to 1.2 grams per watt in good conditions.

John Sinclair Seeds was developed with Ceres Seeds in the Netherlands as a four strong F1 line honouring John Sinclair, and part of the proceeds goes to the John Sinclair Foundation.
