White Noise by Paradise Seeds

A 1990s Amsterdam coffee shop icon, given a Californian Cookies makeover and a name that nods to where it came from.

Paradise Seeds built White Noise on its own Original White Widow IBL, the 'White' in the name, and crossed it with a Thin Mint GSC selection chosen for potency and a more complex terpene profile. The aim, in the breeder's words, was to marry the reliability of old school Widow with a proper Cookies boost, and the result leans about 80 per cent indica.

The nose opens with soft, fruity sweetness, then turns sharper, somewhere between mint and citrus. On the palate it layers vanilla, pine and berries over peppermint, damp earth and roasted chestnut.

The breeder describes a balanced effect: relaxed in the body, clear in the head, with a lucid, contented lift that suits conversation or creative work. Paradise's own smoke report puts the euphoric peak at around 90 minutes, and some medical users choose it for steady daytime calm without fog.

Indoors it stays short, rarely above a metre, with broad fan leaves and wide, horizontal side branching that fills a screen; the breeder recommends early topping and a SCROG or sea of green. Buds are smaller than classic indica colas but dense, sticky and heavily frosted, often blushing purple late in flower. Outdoors it can reach about 2 m, finishes in early October and shows good resistance to botrytis.

Founded in Amsterdam in 1994 by breeder Luc Krol, Paradise Seeds is one of the few seed companies still owned by the breeder, and its Sensi Star took both the High Times and HighLife cups in 1999.
