Green House Seed Co. bred Super Critical by crossing two of its own pillars: Super Bud, itself Big Bud x Skunk #1, and its White Widow. The result has been a fixture of the catalogue for years and was popular enough to be turned into an autoflowering version.

Growers describe a hashy nose with flashes of cranberry and passion fruit, then grapefruit and something floral, close to jasmine or violet, on the exhale. The smoke itself is rich and heavy, savoury before it turns sweet.

The breeder describes a quick, physical effect with a narcotic side that winds down into deep relaxation, and users talk of couch-lock and sleepiness. Medical users report it for easing pain at the end of the day and for restless nights.

Long branches carry large, resin-coated buds, and the breeder recommends it for both sea of green and screen of green rooms. Indoors it is ready in about eight weeks with breeder figures of up to 800 g/m². Outdoor plants spread into broad bushes that finish at the end of September in the northern hemisphere, at up to 1,200 g each. Growers report two shapes in a pack, one short and compact and one longer, both quick to finish with hard, dense flowers.

Super Critical comes from Green House Seed Co., the Amsterdam house founded in 1994 whose Super Silver Haze won back-to-back Cannabis Cups in 1998 and 1999.
