Frost from one parent, colour from the other: Red Opal was bred so collectors would not have to choose.

Conscious Genetics paired two of its own lines here. Red Kachina 2.0, descended from Pink Wafers and Red Kachina, is the breeder's dependable source of purple, while Zapplez 2.0 is the frostier, more resinous update of its sour apple favourite. The stated goal was to keep the dense, trichome-caked buds of Zapplez and add the anthocyanin colour that Red Kachina passes on so reliably.

The nose is sweet and sour at once. Ripe tropical fruit and zesty citrus lead, a musky edge and a whisper of fuel follow, and a candy sweetness hangs about on the exhale.

The breeder calls it balanced: a bright, cerebral lift up top with real body relaxation underneath, good for the afternoon or early evening. As a recent release it has no settled user or medical reports yet, so these are the breeder's own notes.

Plants grow medium to tall, and you can see which parent each one favours. Red Kachina leaners stretch taller with a sativa outline; Zapplez leaners stay squat and branchy. Flowering runs about nine weeks indoors or outdoors with an average yield by the breeder's figures, and the finished buds are tight and frosted, marbled purple and lime green with bright orange pistils.
