Purple Sunset by Dank Genetics

Grape-dark flowers and a sweet, perfumed nose make this one easy to pick out in a line-up.

Dank Genetics paired Purple Punch, the Larry OG by Granddaddy Purple hybrid, with the Sunset Sherbert clone that anchors much of its work. The cross did well enough that the breeder later chose it as the mother for Poundz in its regular range, singling out its weight, bag appeal and depth of terpenes.

The breeder calls the aroma powerful and exotic, with floral and fruity layers resting on a sweet base. Growers pick out berry and candy, and say the scent grows stronger as the buds mature in the jar.

This is an indica-leaning strain, but the breeder is careful to say it relaxes without flattening you. Reports describe a calm, good-humoured high that tends to set off laughter in company, so it suits a relaxed evening with friends more than a solo night on the sofa.

Plants branch well, adapt to most growing setups and are described by the breeder as easy to manage. As flowering progresses the buds darken toward purple, finishing dense and coated in resin for a generous harvest. The breeder gives 9 to 10 weeks of bloom and a medium to high yield, indoors or outdoors.
