This one is a Birthday Cake S1: T.H. Seeds selfed a standout Birthday Cake plant, so every seed draws on a single mother's genetics. Birthday Cake carries Cherry Pie and Girl Scout Cookies in its blood, yet this expression swings hard towards citrus. It launched as a numbered limited run, packs 1 to 710.

The nose is sweet and candy-forward with sour undertones; on the palate it turns creamy and smooth, a limonene-rich lemon sweet that coats the mouth after the first draw.

The breeder pitches it as uplifting and energising, a social strain to pass round with friends before dinner. Expect a bright, happy head and a relaxed body rather than sedation.

Structure is open, with good internode spacing, few leaves and long side branches that spread wide. Veg is slow, then growth picks up in the final weeks; the plant roughly doubles in stretch, and the breeder recommends topping and pinching for a bushier shape. Flowering is a relatively quick 8 to 9 weeks for 450 to 500 g per square metre of dense, golf-ball buds, mostly green with purple inside and thickly frosted. The flower to leaf ratio keeps trimming easy and suits extraction.

Before it was a breeder, T.H. Seeds was the C.I.A., an Amsterdam information centre that opened in 1993.
