Lemoncino by The Cali Connection

Named like the Amalfi lemon liqueur, Lemoncino smells more like a garage: gas, mint and a strange, lovely streak of lavender.

Swerve made it by crossing Italian Ice #16, a selected plant from the Forbidden Fruit x Gelato #45 line, back to a reversed Italian Ice. The brief, as the breeder tells it, was an Italian Ice that yields a little more while keeping the line's character, which makes this the closest thing to a pure Italian Ice pack in the series.

The aroma is loud from the first week of flower, kerosene and gas cut with fresh mint. The smoke finishes thick and earthy, with lavender that clings to the palate, and the breeder expects extract makers to chase it for that pungency.

No effect profile has been published for Lemoncino itself. Growers describe the Italian Ice it comes from as a clear, uplifting head over a relaxed body, an afternoon into evening hybrid rather than a knockout.

Plants start out squat, then put on a big growth spurt once flowering begins, so leave headroom. The breeder insists on carbon filters indoors. It finishes in 64 to 69 days, with a yield the breeder rates a little above its Italian Ice parent.

The Cali Connection has been breeding in Los Angeles since 2008, and OG Kush remains its obsession even as lines like this one push into dessert genetics.
