Gulupa is the Andean name for purple passion fruit, and this plant lives up to it: purple in the leaf, passion fruit on the nose.
Paradise Seeds built it from Purple Kush and Gelato 33 for its Californian Collection. Purple Kush brings the colour and a minty, earthy base, while Gelato 33 adds sugar, citrus and a livelier, euphoric side. The split sits at 60% indica, yet it behaves like something brighter.
It is loud in the grow room, all citrus, tropical fruit, strawberry and passion fruit. On the palate a hashy earthiness sits under the fruit, finished with berries, spice and a cool hint of mint, and one grower picked out sage.
The breeder describes a fast onset and a clear, cerebral lift, unusual for an indica-leaning plant, with contentment, creativity and deep thinking in the mix. The body eases off without ever feeling heavy, so users report it for daytime, and medical users mention it for aches without the sedation.
Expect a bushy, medium plant with plenty of branches and bud sites. Leaves run from dark green into plum, with magenta around the flowers, flame-red pistils and thick crystal. The breeder advises pruning after about three weeks of flower and lollipopping the lower third. Outdoors it handles 50° N to 50° S and can reach 2 m in Mediterranean sun.
