Named for the lemon-soaked sponge cake of the Sorrento coast, and the jar smells the part.
The Cali Connection took a Wedding Cake mother and pollinated her with its reversed Italian Ice, one of a run of Italian dessert crosses from the house that also includes Gelato Al Limone. Wedding Cake brings the dense, frosted structure; Italian Ice adds the fruit and citrus that make it worth smelling.
Fresh lemon sits over a hashy base with a musky citrus tone that the breeder says lingers for a long time. On the palate it is sweet and pungent, and slow to fade.
The breeder has not published effect notes yet, and grower reports are still few. Both parents are known as relaxing hybrids with a cheerful head, so read that as a hint, not a forecast.
This is a straightforward, cooperative plant. It clones easily, fills out sideways and responds well to any training, topping and low-stress work included. The breeder calls it a serious yielder built around one solid centre cola, with flowering at 67 to 70 days, indoors or out. Extract makers get a direct pointer too: the breeder says its terpene profile carries through into loud, flavourful extracts.
