Take DNA's grey-black Cataract Kush, add the frosting of Wedding Cake, and you get a short, branchy plant that hits far harder than its size suggests.

DNA Genetics bred Cataract Cake by pairing its own Cataract Kush, itself LA Confidential crossed with OG Kush, with Wedding Cake. The aim was plain: keep the Kush's weight and dense, crystal-coated buds, and borrow Wedding Cake's resin and steady growth habit. The result leans about 70 per cent indica.

Sweet cake batter and ripe fruit come up first, followed by lemon peel, a thread of diesel and a damp, earthy base, with pine and spice underneath in the breeder's notes.

The breeder describes a bright, euphoric lift that settles into full body and mind relaxation, then a deep, drowsy calm. This is one for late evenings, and DNA is frank that it is not for beginners or light smokers.

Expect a low plant with broad, generous side branching, a natural fit for a screen of green, low-stress training or a tight sea of green. The breeder gives 8 to 9 weeks of flowering and 350 to 400 g/m² or more indoors, with outdoor plants ready in October in the northern hemisphere. Growers report dense, sticky flowers and good resistance to common pests and diseases.
