Califunk 710 by T.H. Seeds

Four California favourites folded onto one old Afghan root: that is the recipe, and the breeder calls the result a groovy blend of old school and new.

T.H. Seeds combined Triangle Kush, Zkittlez, Gelato 41 and Kush Mints into a single parent and crossed it with the house's Pure Afghani. The Kush lines carry the heritage, while Kush Mints was added for denser, frostier flowers.

On the nose it is gas, fruit, mint and cream all at once, and the breeder also picks out an ice-cream sweetness on the exhale.

The head stays mellow while the body lets go completely, and the effect holds for hours. The breeder positions it squarely as a night-time strain, the one to close the evening on.

It grows into a Christmas-tree shape with lots of side branching, compact indoors at 110 to 140 cm and able to become a large, sturdy tree outside. The breeder advises topping once or twice and says it handles heavy feeding and sea-of-green setups; most phenotypes turn red when topped, which the breeder puts down to high anthocyanin. Across 8 to 9 weeks it builds dense, colourful, trichome-heavy buds with a good flower-to-leaf ratio, for 550 to 650 g per square metre, and the breeder rates it easy to trim and good for extraction.

T.H. Seeds has worked in Amsterdam since 1993, and its best-known lines include S.A.G.E. and MK-Ultra.
