Blue Cheese by Barneys Farm

Two of the most recognisable smells in cannabis, sweet Blueberry and funky British Cheese, packed into one squat, heavy-branched plant.

Barney's Farm paired the Blueberry line with the original Cheese, the pungent UK clone whose sour, savoury reek became a style of its own. The cross is 80% indica, and it remains in the breeder's current range long after many of its stablemates have been retired.

Crack a jar and sweet blueberry jam arrives first, then the sharp tang of aged cheese and damp earth beneath it. The smoke is creamy, with a tangy, cheese-rind finish that lingers.

The breeder describes a soothing, full-bodied stone with a euphoric lift, and growers report it as strong and long-lasting, leaning calm and couch-bound. It is an evening strain, and users mention it for appetite and for settling before sleep.

Indoors it stays compact at 80 to 110 cm, with strong side branches that carry fat colas without much fuss. Flowering takes about 60 to 65 days, and breeder yields run to 500 to 600 g/m² indoors and up to 800 g a plant outdoors, harvested in early to mid October. Growers call it easy and reliable, with dense, resinous buds and few mould or pest complaints.

Barney's Farm grew out of a small Haarlemmerstraat coffeeshop that opened in 1986, and Blue Cheese is one of the strains that still carries its name around the world.
