It smells like a bakery for most of the run, then the diesel arrives in the final weeks and the jar turns properly gassy.
DNA Cake started life as DNA Genetics' cross of Gelato Sorbet and Lava Cake, two dessert lines with plenty of sugar in their pedigree. The breeder then brought it together with ruderalis to make a hardy, quick and flavourful autoflower, keeping the indica-dominant build of the photoperiod.
In flower the plants give off sweet fruit, shifting to dank diesel near harvest. Broken up, buds turn spicy and gassy with wood and vanilla, and the smoke is creamy and sugary: vanilla frosting with a warm, nutty edge over myrcene and pine.
The breeder describes a cheerful, mildly euphoric start that grows into an energetic, focused buzz before heavier relaxation takes over, ending in full-body calm and, for many, the sofa. It is an evening strain at heart, and users report reaching for it for aches and a better night's sleep.
DNA lists 9 weeks of flowering and a breeder yield of 12 to 14 oz per square metre, about 340 to 400 g/m², from compact, fast plants suited to indoor tents or outdoor plots. The breeder's THC figure is 19%. For collectors of the Cake family, this is a dessert line on a short clock, with the cake-and-gas swing intact.
