Auto AK-47 by Serious Seeds

A strain with 27 awards to its name, by the breeder's count, now runs on its own clock.

Simon of Serious Seeds created AK-47 around 1992 from Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Afghan stock, and it went on to win High Times Strain of the Year in 2003 among a long list of prizes. Auto AK-47 crosses that line with ruderalis genetics, so plants flower by age rather than by light. The breeder has not named the auto parent, much as Simon has always guarded the full AK-47 pedigree.

Breeder notes describe a strong-smelling plant with a sweet, fruity scent, a little lemon and a little spice, and growers mention a hint of banana among the sweeter notes.

The breeder rates THC as very high, with no meaningful CBD, and calls the effect strong; growers describe it as uplifting and lively, one calling it an intense sativa ride. Serious Seeds notes that medical growers value it for pain, anxiety and low mood, reported uses rather than promises.

From seed to harvest the breeder gives 70 to 80 days, indoors or out, with plants of 75 to 100 cm and indoor yields of 40 to 75 g per plant. Growers report full, crystal-coated buds heavy enough that some have staked side branches outdoors. Compact and quick, it brings AK-47 heritage to balconies and small tents without a light schedule to manage.

Serious Seeds has bred in Amsterdam since 1995 under Simon, keeping a small catalogue of true-breeding classics that earned it a place in the High Times Seed Bank Hall of Fame in 2007.
